About the Role:

As a Nursery Practitioner, you will provide day-to-day care, learning, and development support for children in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). You’ll contribute to a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where children can thrive emotionally, socially, and academically. Working closely with colleagues and parents, you will help ensure each child’s individual needs and progress are recognised and supported.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support children’s learning and development through planned, age-appropriate activities aligned with the EYFS.
• Provide high-quality care, ensuring children’s physical, emotional, and social needs are met throughout the day.
• Observe, record, and track children’s progress, contributing to individual learning plans and assessments.
• Implement effective behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating environment, adhering to all safeguarding and health and safety procedures.
• Build positive, professional relationships with parents and carers, sharing information about children’s experiences and progress.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan, review, and enhance the nursery’s curriculum and daily routines.
• Participate in team meetings, training, and continuous improvement activities to support high standards of practice.

Key Requirements:

• Strong understanding of child development across the early years age range.
• Sound knowledge and practical application of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Proven experience working with the EYFS framework in a nursery or early years setting.
• Effective communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Experience using observation and assessment to inform planning and support individual learning.
• Demonstrated ability to manage children’s behaviour in a positive, consistent, and supportive manner.
• Ability to work as part of a team, contributing to a collaborative and professional working environment.
• Reliable, organised, and able to follow policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience working with a range of additional needs and adapting practice to support inclusion.
• Familiarity with digital or paper-based learning journals and record-keeping systems.
• Knowledge of current best practice and initiatives in early years education.
• Experience contributing to parents’ evenings, reports, or progress meetings.

Qualifications:

• Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Childcare, or equivalent (required).
• Paediatric First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain).
• Safeguarding and child protection training (recent and relevant).
• Evidence of ongoing professional development in early years education (preferred).
