We are currently looking for a Nursery Manager to join an established setting in a small town located in Reading. This role is based on a full-time contract working 40 hours a week.

What we need from you:

Minimum 2 years’ experience within a leadership team
Level 3 in Childcare and Education or higher
Showcase high quality practice
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Excellent time management
Experience in managing a team of staff
Extensive knowledge of Ofsted regulations and the EYFS.

Your duties:

Some of your responsibilities will include:

To ensure the children are cared for in a happy, safe and stimulating environment
To plan, prepare and review the curriculum with the team on your site for the Early Years Foundation Stage
To work in partnership with the parents ensuring they are happy and answer any queries as they arise.
Promote high standards of quality within the nursery in respect of the environment, resources and experiences offered to children.
Ensure that all children attending the nursery receive rich and stimulating experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development.
Ensure that practice and provision in the nursery meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Ensure that children are kept safe, and that staff understand and, when necessary, follow Safeguarding Procedures.
Liaise with the head office on any changing information for staff, nursery or clients.
Ensure the nursery paperwork is organized and you understand all forms and terms and conditions that the company has in place. Ensure all your paperwork is up to date and organised.
To always ensure confidentiality
Provide contact points for parents and staff
Liaise and pass over information with other managers
To ensure all staff work at a high standard
To manage a group of staff and encourage them to move forward with their abilities to aim high.
To organize sufficient cover if a staff member is ill.
To conduct staff meeting at a minimum of 1 per half term
Manage the nursery budget with food, equipment and toileting
Advertise the nursery via social media, keep day nurseries listing up to date, invite parents to review the nursery.
Work in conjunction with Human Resources in disciplinary and grievance investigations and hearings.
To enforce and delegate all health & safety checks, risk assessments and ensure all staff are aware at all times of their outcome
Arrange parent evenings for the children in your care
To communicate all changes effectively to parents and early years.
To organize any sport days, shows and outings for the children. Ensure the activity is risk assessed and communicate all the details to your team and parents.
Be fully aware of all regulations set out by OFSTED, the government and local authority so you are fully aware of all obligations. Ensure the setting and team always follow all regulations
Be aware of all systems set up by the company and aware of how to access any information you need.
Ensure the site is opened and locked up correctly at all times of use with a triple check process for all hazard areas.
To ensure all children are always happy and safe and collected from nursery safely and when required.
To ensure the catering staff are competent and provide the correct meals always following the catering regulations.
To do visits for new clients or organize a member of staff to do so. Record all information of enquiry log and complete occupancy levels
To ensure the phone is on at all nursery times and calls are taken/ messages are received. The nursery needs to always be contactable
Ensure all children’s information is up to date and parents are aware of how to update theirs and their child’s details and the importance of it for their child’s safety.
To do staff supervisions every 8-12 weeks and yearly appraisals.
To always keep standards and quality of every point of the nursery to a high standard.
Keep your own training up to date.
To be the Designated safeguarding lead for the nursery.
