About the Role:

As an Early Years Practitioner, you will provide a safe, stimulating, and caring environment that supports each child’s learning and development. You will contribute to the planning and delivery of the EYFS curriculum, ensuring every child’s individual needs and interests are met. Working closely with colleagues and families, you will help create a positive, inclusive atmosphere where children can flourish.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the daily care, supervision, and wellbeing of children in line with safeguarding and child protection policies.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver age-appropriate activities in line with the EYFS curriculum to promote learning through play.
• Observe, assess, and record children’s progress, contributing to learning journals and development plans.
• Promote positive behaviour, modelling and reinforcing appropriate conduct and social skills.
• Build warm, trusting relationships with children and their families, sharing information on progress and daily experiences.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organised learning environment, ensuring all resources are used effectively.
• Work collaboratively with the nursery team to support room routines, transitions, and overall nursery operations.
• Participate in team meetings, reflective practice, and continuous improvement of the setting.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience working with children in an early years setting or nursery.
• Strong understanding of child development and how to support learning at different stages.
• Solid knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures and responsibilities.
• Practical understanding of the EYFS curriculum and how to implement it in daily practice.
• Confident in planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate activities.
• Skilled in observing and assessing children’s development and using this to inform practice.
• Effective positive behaviour management skills.
• Clear, professional communication skills with both children and families.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow established policies and procedures.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience working with children with additional needs or SEND.
• Familiarity with digital systems for recording observations and assessments.
• Experience contributing to parent consultations or progress meetings.
• Knowledge of current best practice and emerging trends in early years education.

Qualifications:

• Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years/Childcare qualification (or equivalent) required.
• Paediatric First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain).
• Safeguarding and Child Protection training (up to date or willingness to refresh).
• Additional CPD in early years education, behaviour management, or SEND support is advantageous.
