About the Role:

As a Nursery Practitioner, you will provide day-to-day care, education, and support for children in line with the EYFS framework. You will create engaging learning opportunities, ensure children’s safety and wellbeing, and contribute to a positive, inclusive nursery culture. Working closely with colleagues and families, you will help each child reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality care and learning experiences in line with the EYFS, ensuring activities are age-appropriate and engaging.
• Observe children’s development, record progress, and contribute to individual learning plans.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver structured and play-based activities that support all areas of learning and development.
• Implement safeguarding and child protection procedures, promptly reporting any concerns in line with nursery policy.
• Promote positive behaviour, supporting children to develop social skills, independence, and self-regulation.
• Build effective relationships with parents and carers, providing regular updates on their child’s progress and wellbeing.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a safe, clean, and well-organised learning environment.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation, including attendance, incident reports, and developmental observations.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience working with young children in a nursery or early years setting.
• Strong understanding of the EYFS framework and its practical application in daily practice.
• Demonstrable knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Experience in observing, assessing, and documenting children’s learning and development.
• Ability to plan and deliver a variety of stimulating, child-centred activities.
• Skilled in promoting positive behaviour and managing challenging situations calmly and consistently.
• Confident communicator with parents, carers, and colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, using initiative and contributing to a positive working environment.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with key person systems and individual learning journeys.
• Familiarity with digital systems for recording observations and assessments.
• Experience supporting children with additional needs or SEND.
• Knowledge of current best practice and developments in early years education.

Qualifications:

• Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years (or equivalent) – required.
• Up-to-date Paediatric First Aid certification – preferred.
• Safeguarding and Child Protection training – required.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development in early years education – preferred.
