About the Role:

As a Nursery Apprentice, you will support the delivery of high-quality care and learning for children in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). You’ll work closely with qualified practitioners to create a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment, while developing your own professional practice. This role offers a clear pathway to a recognised childcare qualification and a long-term career in early years education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the daily care, supervision, and play-based learning activities of children in line with EYFS guidelines.
• Assist in setting up, tidying, and maintaining a safe, clean, and engaging nursery environment.
• Contribute to planned activities that promote children’s physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
• Help observe, record, and share information on children’s progress with the team in support of planning and assessment.
• Follow nursery policies and procedures, including safeguarding, health and safety, and hygiene routines.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth daily routines and a positive experience for children and families.
• Engage positively with parents and carers, supporting effective communication under the guidance of senior staff.

Desirable Skills:

• Previous experience (paid or voluntary) in a nursery, school, or childcare setting.
• Confidence in engaging children in play and learning activities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills for recording observations and interacting with families.
• Basic IT skills to support training, record-keeping, and communication.

Qualifications:

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths, or willingness to work towards these alongside the apprenticeship.
• Eligibility to undertake an Early Years apprenticeship at Level 2 or Level 3 (depending on entry level).
• Any prior childcare-related course or certificate (e.g. Level 1 Childcare) is an advantage but not essential.
