About the Role:

As a Nursery Practitioner, you will provide high-quality care and learning experiences for children in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). You will contribute to planning and delivering engaging activities, ensuring each child’s individual needs are met and progress is effectively supported. Working closely with colleagues and parents, you will help create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment where children can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the planning and delivery of age-appropriate activities in line with EYFS frameworks.
• Observe, record, and track children’s development, contributing to individual learning plans.
• Promote positive behaviour and implement consistent behaviour management strategies.
• Ensure children’s safety and wellbeing at all times, following safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Build warm, professional relationships with children and their families, providing regular feedback on progress.
• Set up, maintain, and tidy learning environments, ensuring resources are engaging and accessible.
• Work collaboratively with the nursery team to support daily routines, including meal times, personal care, and transitions.
• Participate in team meetings, training, and reflective practice to continuously improve provision.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience working with young children in an early years setting.
• Strong understanding of child development and how to support learning through play.
• Solid knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures and responsibilities.
• Confident in using observation and assessment to inform planning and track progress.
• Effective behaviour management skills with a calm, consistent approach.
• Excellent communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Ability to work as part of a team, using initiative and contributing positively to the setting.
• Reliable, organised, and able to follow policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience working with a range of additional needs and adapting practice accordingly.
• Familiarity with digital systems for recording observations and assessments.
• Experience contributing to Ofsted inspections or quality improvement processes.
• Ability to lead small group activities or key person responsibilities with confidence.

Qualifications:

• Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Childcare, or equivalent (required).
• Up-to-date Paediatric First Aid certificate (preferred).
• Safeguarding and child protection training (required; recent refresher preferred).
• Evidence of ongoing professional development in early years practice (preferred).
