About the Role:

As a Nursery Practitioner, you will contribute to the planning and delivery of engaging, age-appropriate activities that support children’s learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). You will help create a secure, stimulating environment where children can thrive, while maintaining high standards of care, safety, and wellbeing. Working closely with colleagues and parents, you will ensure each child’s individual needs are recognised and met.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the planning and delivery of the early years curriculum, ensuring activities are tailored to children’s individual stages of development.
• Observe, assess, and record children’s progress, contributing to learning journals and developmental reports.
• Implement safeguarding and child protection procedures, responding promptly to any concerns in line with nursery policies.
• Promote positive behaviour management strategies, helping children develop social skills, self-regulation, and respect for others.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, and hygiene, including cleaning routines, safe use of equipment, and adherence to infection control procedures.
• Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing regular feedback on their child’s wellbeing, progress, and daily activities.
• Contribute to accurate record keeping and documentation, including attendance, incident reports, and statutory records.
• Work collaboratively with the nursery team, participating in staff meetings, planning sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience working with children in an early years setting, ideally as a Nursery Practitioner or similar role.
• Strong understanding of child development principles and how they inform practice in the early years.
• Practical experience implementing the EYFS or equivalent early years curriculum.
• Clear knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures and the ability to follow them consistently.
• Confident, professional communication skills when dealing with parents, carers, and colleagues.
• Ability to apply positive behaviour management techniques in a calm, consistent manner.
• Strong awareness of health, safety, and hygiene requirements within a nursery environment.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation, with good attention to detail.
• Proven team player with a collaborative approach and willingness to support colleagues.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience working in a busy, high-quality nursery or childcare setting in the Ascot area or similar.
• Familiarity with digital systems for recording observations and tracking children’s progress.
• Experience contributing to planning for key children and supporting transitions within the setting.
• Knowledge of additional needs and inclusive practices in early years.
• Ability to contribute ideas for new activities, resources, and improvements to the learning environment.

Qualifications:

• Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education and Care (or equivalent recognised childcare qualification).
• Paediatric First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain).
• Safeguarding and child protection training relevant to early years settings.
• Additional early years or childcare-related training and CPD certificates are advantageous.
