About the Role:

As a Nursery Practitioner, you will provide day-to-day care, learning and development support for children in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). You will create a safe, stimulating environment that promotes each child’s individual progress and wellbeing, while working closely with colleagues and parents to ensure consistent, high-quality provision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities and experiences in line with the EYFS framework.
• Provide high-quality care and supervision, ensuring children’s safety, wellbeing and emotional security at all times.
• Observe children’s play and learning, recording assessments and contributing to individual learning plans.
• Promote positive behaviour and manage the classroom environment to support engagement and respect.
• Build effective relationships with parents and carers, sharing regular updates on children’s progress and daily experiences.
• Work collaboratively with the nursery team to maintain routines, support transitions and contribute to a positive staff culture.
• Implement safeguarding and child protection procedures, reporting any concerns in line with nursery policies.
• Maintain a clean, organised and inclusive learning environment, including setting up and tidying away resources.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience working with children in an early years setting, ideally as a Nursery Practitioner or similar role.
• Strong understanding of child development and how it informs planning and practice.
• Solid knowledge and practical application of the EYFS framework.
• Clear awareness of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities and procedures.
• Confident classroom and behaviour management skills appropriate to early years.
• Ability to observe, assess and document children’s learning and development accurately.
• Effective communication skills for working with colleagues, parents and carers.
• Ability to work as part of a team, demonstrating reliability, flexibility and a proactive approach.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience working with children from diverse backgrounds and with additional needs.
• Familiarity with key worker systems and supporting children’s transitions.
• Experience using digital tools or software for recording observations and assessments.
• Understanding of current best practice in early years pedagogy and continuous provision.

Qualifications:

• Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education, Childcare or equivalent.
• Paediatric First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain).
• Safeguarding and child protection training relevant to early years practice.
• Additional early years or SEND-related training or certifications (preferred).
