About the Role:
As a Nursery Practitioner, you will provide safe, nurturing, and stimulating care for children in line with the EYFS framework. You will contribute to planning and delivering engaging activities, observing and assessing children’s progress, and maintaining accurate records. Working closely with colleagues and parents, you’ll support each child’s individual development and wellbeing while upholding safeguarding and best practice standards.

Key Responsibilities:
* Support the daily care, supervision, and wellbeing of children in line with nursery policies and procedures.
* Plan, set up, and deliver age-appropriate activities that promote learning, development, and play in accordance with the EYFS.
* Carry out regular observations and assessments, recording children’s progress and contributing to individual learning plans.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including attendance, incident reports, and developmental documentation.
* Promote positive behaviour through clear expectations, consistent boundaries, and supportive strategies.
* Build effective, professional relationships with parents and carers, providing regular feedback on their child’s day and development.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a safe, tidy, and stimulating environment, including setting up and clearing away resources.
* Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures, promptly reporting any concerns in line with nursery policy.

Key Requirements:
* Proven experience working with children in an early years or nursery setting.
* Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework and its practical application in planning and practice.
* Demonstrated understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
* Ability to observe, assess, and document children’s learning and development accurately.
* Confident communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues.
* Ability to manage behaviour positively and consistently within a group setting.
* Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and documentation.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy nursery environment.

Desirable Skills:
* Experience working with specific age groups (e.g., babies, toddlers, or preschool) within a nursery setting.
* Familiarity with electronic learning journals or digital record-keeping systems.
* Experience contributing to planning meetings and curriculum development.
* Knowledge of inclusive practice and supporting children with additional needs.

Qualifications:
* Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Childcare, or equivalent (e.g., NVQ, CACHE, or similar).
* Paediatric First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain).
* Safeguarding and Child Protection training (up-to-date or willingness to refresh).
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths preferred.
