About the Role:

As a Nursery Practitioner, you will provide high-quality care and education for children in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). You will create a safe, nurturing environment where children can learn, explore, and develop through play. Your work will directly support each child’s progress, wellbeing, and readiness for their next stage of learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver age-appropriate activities and experiences in line with the EYFS framework.
• Observe children’s learning and development, recording and assessing progress to inform next steps.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and learning journeys for each key child.
• Promote positive behaviour, using consistent strategies to support children’s social and emotional development.
• Ensure children’s safety and wellbeing at all times, following safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Build strong, professional relationships with parents and carers, providing regular updates on their child’s progress.
• Set up, maintain, and tidy learning environments, ensuring resources are engaging, safe, and well-presented.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the smooth daily running of the room and wider nursery.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience working with children in an early years setting.
• Strong knowledge and practical understanding of the EYFS framework.
• Demonstrable experience in observation, assessment, and record-keeping for children’s learning and development.
• Confident in implementing safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
• Skilled in managing behaviour positively and supporting children’s emotional wellbeing.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate activities.
• Organised, reliable, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience as a key person with responsibility for a group of children.
• Familiarity with electronic learning journals or digital record-keeping systems.
• Experience supporting children with additional needs or SEND.
• Knowledge of current best practice and developments in early years education.

Qualifications:

• Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Childcare, or equivalent (required).
• Evidence of up-to-date safeguarding and child protection training (required or willingness to complete).
• Paediatric First Aid certificate (preferred or willingness to obtain).
• Ongoing commitment to continuing professional development in early years.
