About the Role:

As a Nursery Practitioner, you will provide high-quality care and learning experiences for children in line with the EYFS framework. You will contribute to a safe, stimulating environment that supports each child’s individual needs and development. Working closely with colleagues and parents, you will help ensure every child feels secure, engaged, and ready for their next steps.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day care for children, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and emotional security within the nursery setting.
• Plan and deliver age-appropriate, engaging activities that support children’s learning and development in line with the EYFS.
• Carry out regular observations and assessments, maintaining accurate records of children’s progress and next steps.
• Implement positive behaviour management strategies to promote respectful, inclusive, and supportive interactions.
• Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures, promptly reporting any concerns in line with nursery policies.
• Build effective, professional relationships with parents and carers, sharing information about children’s routines, progress, and achievements.
• Work collaboratively with the nursery team to maintain a clean, safe, and stimulating environment, including setting up and tidying away activities.
• Contribute to planning meetings and team discussions, sharing ideas to enhance practice and outcomes for children.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience working with young children in a nursery or early years setting.
• Strong understanding of early years development and the EYFS framework.
• Demonstrable knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures within a childcare environment.
• Confident in observing, assessing, and recording children’s learning and development.
• Skilled in using positive behaviour management techniques appropriate for early years.
• Ability to plan and deliver structured and child-led activities tailored to individual needs.
• Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with children, colleagues, and families.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, using initiative and following nursery policies and procedures.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience working with a range of additional needs and adapting practice accordingly.
• Familiarity with digital systems or software for recording observations and assessments.
• Knowledge of current best practice and developments in early years education.
• Experience contributing to inspections or quality improvement processes within a nursery.

Qualifications:

• Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years/Childcare (or equivalent) required.
• Up-to-date Paediatric First Aid certification preferred.
• Safeguarding and Child Protection training (recent and relevant) preferred.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development in early years practice advantageous.
